Business Advantages of eco2Veritas

Automated Data Collection and Reporting

eco2Veritas significantly reduces the time and effort required for compliance by automating data collection and reporting processes. This automation can lead to substantial cost savings compared to manual methods, especially for large producers who now have to report data bi-annually instead of annually under the new EPR scheme.

Reduced Audit Costs

The system’s ability to provide "trust-less“ verification and immutable records reduces the need for frequent and expensive on-site audits. This can result in significant cost savings, as traditional audit-based certification schemes like e.g., ISCC PLUS or EuCertPlast can be expensive and time-consuming.

Improved Data Accuracy and Compliance.

By using AI, IoT, and blockchain technologies, eco2Veritas ensures higher data accuracy and reduces the risk of non-compliance. This is particularly valuable given the Environment Agency’s increased scrutiny on data accuracy and the potential penalties for non-compliance.

Efficient EPR Fee Management

The system’s ability to track recycled content and material flows can help optimise Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme fee calculations and potentially reduce fees through better data on recyclability and recycled content. This is especially relevant as EPR fees are set to be introduced in many countries and will be based on the recyclability of packaging materials.

Streamlined Supply Chain Management

eco2Veritas provides a comprehensive view of the recycling supply chain, allowing for better management and potential cost optimisations. This can lead to savings in waste management costs and improved efficiency in recycling operations.

Future-Proofing for Regulatory Changes

As regulations evolve, such as the introduction of modulated fees and digital product passports, eco2Veritas is well-positioned to enable companies to adapt quickly, saving clients the costs of frequent system updates or changes to comply with new requirements.

These cost advantages, combined with the system’s ability to provide transparent and verifiable data, make eco2Veritas an attractive solution for companies looking to optimise compliance processes and reduce costs associated with EPR and recycling certifications.

eco2Veritas at a Glance

Evidence Platform

The platform makes it particulary easy to ingest scanned documents and IoT telemetry. A digital “chain of custody“ is created from evidence and secured on a blockchain.

From this evidence, data is automatically extracted through AI, such as material weight of deliveries and dispatches, supplier data, material quality, discards, etc.

This data is used for a wide range of applications, such as mass balancing, reporting or the proof of specific claims towards suppliers or clients.

Evidence Ingestion

Data can be captured in several streams:

  • uploading of scanned documents
  • sending images from mobile devices
  • streaming of IoT telemetry data

All this is considered evidence! The eco2Veritas platform is designed to be extremely efficient in capturing data, particularly from a plant or production facility.

Data Extraction

The platform does not require to manually enter data - in fact manual data entry is excluded for reasons of security and trust.

Any data is automatically extracted from ingested evidence trough integrated artificial intelligence (AI) modules.

AI also enables the platform to automatically associate uploaded evidence to specific process steps.

Evidence Securisation

All evidence and the extracted data of the evidence is secured on a blockchain and rendered immutable. Each piece of evidence is associated to a specific process step, creating a “chain-of-evidence“ or chain of custody.

Evidence can have different scores, ranging from e.g., scanned hand-written paper, photos, printed receipts, up to securely captured telemetry data.

The platform prevents double upload of evidence to prevent fraud or double booking of materials.

Certification

When sufficient evidence is accumulated or corroborated, certificates about specific claims can be automatically issued. The certificates provide an immutable, digital proof - down to the original evidence - about the fact that a specific sequence of process steps have been executed with specific attributes. Certified claims are e.g., proof of neutralisation of waste, proof of recycling, proof of quality or other.

eco2Veritas can easily act as a fully digital EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) system.

Reporting & DPP

All extracted data is available in the system for various forms of reporting. Apart from detailed analysis of claims, the system provides further views for mass balancing in arbitrary periods according to ISCC PLUS, material volume streams, or other.

All data can be attached to a digital product passport (DPP) of the produced sustainable material. The DPP is an increasing requirement for downstream supply chain partners, enabling them to optimise their operations.

Smart Contracts

Based on available data, further steps can be taken which have an immediate monetary impact:

  • Based on the delivered material quality, a quality-based credit note can be generated, discounting low quality. The evidence is indisputably available in eco2Veritas and payments reflect the operation costs.
  • Certificates can be put on a blockchain as material tokens. These tokens can be passed on to downstream supply chain partners and carry a price as sustainbility certificate.
